Though it is the primary reason for the club, observing is not the only interest pursued. In fact some members may be more interested in different facets such as construction, theory, astro-photography, learning astronomy, writing/editing or just the social aspects. The club also has public viewing nights and also presents viewing for tourists at different holiday grounds. Radio talks have been provided, as well as newspaper articles. With these public activities the club does increase awareness and interest in astronomy and aids fundraising for equipment and running costs. In these endeavours, the club has been well supported by the Shoalhaven City Council. The photo at left, the Orion Nebula, was taken by Jeff Nott.
