SYDNEY TO BRISBANE

These few notes describe the sort of experience you will have on one of our tours.


Saturday:
Train to start from inner Sydney. You immediately cycle into farmland, following river valleys Going past orchards and market gardens and into the bush, you emerge for the first night's stay at a water sports centre on the river.
Distance 83 km.

 

Sunday: A long day. Cross the river by ferry, ride through the beautiful secluded river valley, climb out of the Sydney Basin through a remote National Park, and emerge to stay in the Hunter Valley wine making region.
Distance 110 km.

 

Monday: An easy, sight seeing day. Spend the morning visiting some of the region's famous wineries, and then follow the Hunter River through rich farmland to the little village.
Distance 50 km.

 

Tuesday: Up and down this morning through cattle grazing country and scenic Australian bush. After lunch follow river valleys to our night's stay in a picturesque little town.
Distance 89 km.

 

Wednesday: Rest Day. A few easy scenic walks, a tour of the Barrington Tops National Park.

 

Thursday: A hard day but well worth the effort. Climb, and climb, out of the Hunter Valley (rewarded by magnificent rugged mountain views) onto the New England Plateau.
Distance 78 km.

 

Friday: Tour across the high plains, home of fine wool merino sheep, to the bustling little town with its unique sculptures.
Distance 75 km.

 

Saturday: Today ride further north across the New England Plateau, with optional excursions through remote Australian sheep stations or a magnificent gorge, to finish in one of Australia's oldest inland cities with its fine old buildings.
Distance 85 km.

 

Sunday: Back into the bush today. Climb steadily through remote country the highest point of our journey. Visit incredible gorges and falls.
Distance 94 km.

 

Monday: After all that climbing, today the reward! Down, down through rainforest, past the white water rafting centres to finish in a big northern NSW city on a magnificent river.
Distance 122 km.

Tuesday: Rest Day. Just rest or visit some of the many tourist attractions in this city.

 

Wednesday: A longish but relatively easy ride through bush and farmland to the beef cattle capital of NSW.
Distance 112 km.

 

Thursday: A shorter ride today along picturesque creeks to the foot of the towering Border ranges. Stay at a tiny remote resort surrounded by Australian Wildlife.
Distance 66 km.

 

Friday: The ride today is full of contrasts. First up to the NSW-Queensland Border, then down, and follow remote creeks and into (by quiet back roads) the busy Queensland City of Beaudesert.
Distance 95 km.

 

Saturday: The last day! Follow Terry's unique backstreet route through the southern suburbs of Brisbane to Griffith University where you can take an off-road cycle path to finish the centre of the City of Brisbane on the River.
Distance 85 km.
