Australian judge Mr Brian Venables (Trailblazer Dalmatians), on seeing Eng & Am Ch Washakie Dancing Brave and Eng Ch Washakie Indian Summer in the ring as puppies. With those words we became bound up in the fortunes of two quite remarkable Dals.
These litter-mates went on to account for four Crufts BOB (including a Reserve In Group), several English Specialties - all three in one year, two NOEDC Dal of the Year competitions, and the first BIS All Breeds win by a Dalmatian for over 20 years.
Pam and I were in attendance to see their last ring appearance, Crufts Dog Show 1998, at which Indy, aged 9, was awarded Reserve Bitch and Wolfie was placed second in Veteran Class behind his old adversary Ch Flutist of Frohocks - the only other BIS All Breeds Dalmatian in the past 20 years.
CH Dalmeadow Chestnut Teal, our first Golden Champion, and the mother of three champions from her only two litters.
Her mother George (Goldog Alpine Georgina) still acts as assistant den mother (and convenient bed on cold days!) for our dally pups.
