OVERVIEW
School Policy
Saint Joseph's School is
currently a small Private Religious School for children of Primary
School age (K-6), within the Religious Order of Saint Charbel. The Order
of Saint Charbel is a new Religious Order in the Catholic Church similar
to the great Orders of Saint Dominic and Saint Francis of Assisi.
Within the Order are
Priests, Religious Brothers and Sisters, and families -- living together
a life of prayer and work, as set out in the Rule and Constitution of
the Order.
The School plays a major
role in the goals set out in the Rule and Constitution of the Order. The
main goals of the Order are:
 | Re-evangelisation of the
Mystical Body of Christ, particularly through preaching the Word of
God in it's entirety, as authoritatively taught by the Magisterium,
through teaching the Faith at all levels of the Church's life in the
modern world. |
 | Re-unification and
reconciliation of Christianity, particularly East and West,
beginning with individual persons and encompassing all ecclesial
communions. |
 | Promotion of the Family as the
"Domestic Church" which, in God's Plan, is the basic cell
of Society and a subject of rights and duties. |
 | Promotion of true devotion to
the Blessed Virgin Mary, which proposes consecration to Jesus
through Mary, as an effective means for Christians to live,
faithfully, their Baptismal and Religious commitment. |
Within Saint Joseph's
School these goals of the Order can be achieved through traditional
Catholic centred teaching along with a comprehensive curriculum.
Secondly, within the Order and the School, the Sacrament of the Holy
Eucharist is the source and summit of community life.
School
Philosophy
The purpose of the
School is to provide traditional Catholic centred teaching and
training, in accordance with the Rule and Constitution of the Order of
Saint Charbel. The School's philosophy is rooted in the very nature
and purpose of the Order, one of whose main goals is the education of
children in the Truths and Traditions of the Roman Catholic Church, to
give them the physical and spiritual training to fit them for a
healthy and virtuous life, and to impart all the skills, learning and
understandings of a comprehensive curriculum in preparation for
fulfilling life's vocation -- be it a Religious vocation or the
vocation to holiness of the Laity.
The School's Policy
will be to provide Religious education and training in accordance with
the Truths and Traditions of the Roman Catholic Church, and to provide
quality and comprehensive education in all areas of the curriculum
(K-6) as set down by the Board of Studies in New South Wales. The
School aims to provide an education that:
 | considers the aspirations,
special needs and natural abilities of each child; |
 | considers the expectation of the
parents, and involves them as much as possible; |
 | achieve a high level of skill,
understanding and knowledge in all areas of learning; |
 | is effective in its use of
resources available |
