U R G E N T
1. Greetings.
2. I am writing to you to follow up on my letter dated
13th October 2001 regarding our situation in Saint Mary’s church -
Lethbridge and Saint Joseph’s church – Meredith. The parish priest for
these churches is Rev. Fr. John Haines.
3. In addition to my concern on the 13th October 2001 fax
(see attached fax) I would like to add that myself including my friends are
refused Holy Communion on the basis that we are not following what the rest of
the community is doing. Fr. Haines’ reasons for refusing us Holy Communion
are not valid Catholic reasons. We are not homosexuals, we are not lesbians,
we are not heretics, we are not Lefebvrists, we are not schismatics, nor any
other type of rebel you can possibly think of. We are not men who wear
earrings on their left ear as Fr. Haines does.
Why then are we being refused Holy Communion?
Let me explain to you that all we did at Saint Mary’s
church – Lethbridge was to continue to face the altar during Holy Mass. It
would be interesting for you to know that the community Fr. Haines does not
associate us with, were facing each other however bodies were slanted towards
the altar whether they were kneeling, standing or sitting. We were always
facing the altar all throughout Holy Mass. And because we were facing the
altar he said he was angered. And because we were facing the altar he said he
would not be giving us Holy Communion.
Please be advised nothing in Canon Law justifies the
action of this uneducated priest. I am very frustrated by your lack of action
and lack of courtesy by at least sending us word that you have received our
correspondences. Of course I am tempted not to go to Holy Mass altogether.
However this is not the proper course of action for me if I want to fight for
my right to uphold the traditions of our Holy Roman Catholic Church.
4. Be advised all correspondences sent to you coming from
us are going to be sent to the list of people on the next page if you fail to
respond to our concerns no later than Monday 22nd October 2001 12 noon. To all
of you cc’d this fax please kindly make sure to help us or forward our
concerns to the proper offices within the Curia.
