My wife, Maria, and I have had the sense the times we are living in now is what is known as 'end times.' We had been reading and studying about these events from sources outside the Roman Catholic Church. One day, I happened to mention a particular date to my younger brother Tony. His response was one of surprise. Like something in him switched on and came alive. He said, "That's funny… that day is the very same as Our Lady mentioned in her messages." My interest brimmed and ask him to show me. The very next day he brought me the message concerned and I read it with anticipation. At first I was a bit put off. The introduction to the message was too holy and I could not relate. I skipped through the introduction and read the words of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Immediately I sensed that this was more than just words, it had a ring of truth to it, and I wanted more. Tony was very obliging and gave me more messages to read. The effect of reading and taking to heart these messages was immediate. The messages put the fear of God into me. At the same time I received hope and a need to pray to God and to improve what I did with my life.
Again Tony was helpful. He mentioned to me the following Saturday was the first Saturday of the month and he and his wife Frances and family would be saying some special prayers. I went along not knowing what to expect. To say I was surprised is an understatement! They started the evening with the full exorcism prayer to St Michael - a prayer I had never heard before, a rosary, then another, and then another, and some more! These were entwined with litanies, the Stations of the Cross, some hymns and more. Before I knew it, two hours had passed. I had never prayed so long at any one time. From this experience I knew that this was 'fair dinkum.' Anyone prepared to pray for that amount of time and quietly in their home without any fan fare was serious about their beliefs! They were putting their faith on the line in a practical way. I felt fulfilled and content from the experience. I promised to come again in the following months. Three months later, I came back with my wife, Maria. We had taken up praying the full rosary on a daily basis. We felt confident enough to become involved. Maria, too, became convinced through the first Saturday prayers for, "Peace, Unity and Reconciliation." At the end of the evening the conversation led to the Little Pebble. I asked, "In all the years that you have been following 'the mission' as they called it, have you ever met him?" "No," they said. They were quite happy to just pray as Our Blessed Mother asked. That was not enough for me. I had been dragged into some 'new age' thinking previously and did not want to be misled again. It seems at present that all that we need now is for people who have the same need as ourselves to withdraw from the world and the evil in it. We need people who want to give their life to God in a special way. People who want to join the Order of St Charbel so as to sacrifice their life to God as our Lord himself has shown us how to do. We need those who are sick of materialism and are happy to share their possessions, talents, sacrifice, and hard work with other community members. People who are committed to a life of earnest prayer. Those who want to be Saints and live what the Holy Father Pope John-Paul II has asked us to live in his recent encyclical named Vita Consecrata. We need people who earnestly desire to live in the New Holy Era and are ready and willing to sacrifice their life to pray for the world and pray that Our Lord's return will be soon. |
