OUR WORKS
Our Mother said the communities that are to be built were to be self-sustaining. Our 1,500-acre farm at Meredith seemed to be in an ideal situation. We seem to have it all. There are enough hens to produce over a million eggs per week. There is a feed mill that turns out more than 500 tons of feed weekly. There are cows and sheep and even a few horses. As well as all the animals we also crop almost 1000 acres of land. Canola, barley and wheat are our main crops. The community is not solely reliant on the many facets of the farming enterprise. It also houses and runs one of Australia's largest religious goods supplies business. Everything is sold from tabernacles to vestments. Genuine Catholic books are imported from overseas. Hundred of parcels of piety goods such as crucifixes and statues are posted all over the county every week. Ark Catholic religious supplies, as the business is called, have an inventory of over five hundred thousand different lines. Advertising is done through an assortment of attractive catalogues.
There are almost 50 people employed in the various enterprises all from the surrounding districts. Many of these souls are family members. There are five spacious homes on the property. The beautiful Moorabool River is the northern boundary. Three hundred fifty acres of the land is natural bush-land with kangaroos, koalas and a host of other wildlife. Some of the scenery especially along the Coolebarghurk creek, which meanders through the property, is stunningly beautiful. |
