Mr W. Kamm,
161B Koloona Drive,
CAMBEWARRA N.S.W. 2540
Dear Mr Kamm,
We are writing to inform you that a decision has been given in the case Anne Mary Bicego presented to us. It was concluded that, under the circumstances, it was not a binding marriage according to the law of the Catholic Church. This decision has no civil effect whatsoever.
Although you are now free to marry in the Catholic Church, in all cases it is our responsibility to ensure that a new marriage is a source of more lasting happiness than the earlier one. For this reason we often advise people to seek competent help in preparing for a new marriage. This can sometimes require counselling.
Before you set a date for a new marriage, the following requirements must be met:
1. You should ask the proposed celebrant to contact this Office.
2. You should contact this Office so that a suitable programme of preparation for yourself and your intended partner can be implemented.
When these requirements have been met, the celebrant will obtain a document authorising him to proceed. No new marriage, of course, can take place in the Catholic Church until the canonical freedom of your partner has been established and the celebrant involved has received from us the necessary documents.
Please let us know as soon as possible that you have received this letter, as we have to be sure that you have been informed of the decision.
Yours sincerely,
