WHY WE BELIEVE!
28th September, 2002

by Guido Colla

Many things have been going around in my head for a week or more and I thought to try and tie them altogether, and see if it all makes sense.

I have been dwelling on the fact that so many Priests are off the track in their faith - and the possible reason why. My conclusion is that as it was in Our Lord’s time, so it is today. We, the people of the Catholic Church are the people of God, or the Mystical Body of Christ. Just as at the end of Our Lord’s Earthly life in the Garden of Gethsemane, He asked His Apostles to pray – so it is in the ‘end times’ Our Blessed Mother asks Her Priests especially to pray. But just as the apostles fell asleep instead of praying as Our Lord had asked, so have many Priests of today turned a deaf ear to Our Heavenly Mother and Her warnings to the world of what is to come, and they are forgetting to pray. What is to come of course is the passion of the Catholic Church – for where the Head of the Mystical Body went, so, too, must the body go to the same place, namely Calvary.

What happened to the Apostles of Our Lord when he was taken away after the betrayal of Judas – (they scattered in fear) – will happen again with today’s Priests. I see that the Apostles of old are today represented by the Priests and Bishops of the Catholic Church. Some are very good, some not so good, and some truly evil. So Saint John is represented, and Saint Peter, Saint Thomas and all the others, including Judas the betrayer.

Apart from the Apostles, the Jewish Church also represents the hierarchy of today’s Church which, at the First Coming of Jesus, was the true Church of the time. The Jewish Church had gone off the track and had become self-serving, inward looking – not upward looking, or supernatural. Our Lord came to correct the situation and to perfect it, but they would have none of it. Not only would they not be corrected, they made an outcast of Him and set out to kill Him.

God being all wise, and acting in the same way that He has since the beginning of time, sends Prophets, Seers, Mystics into His Church, to correct errors that creep into ‘His’ Church, in the same way as he sent His Son to correct, edify and perfect His Church. But mankind does not seem to learn from history. As always, the Mystics are ridiculed and driven out of the community’s midst - for basically, the people of God do not choose to lived the First Commandment: that is to know, love and serve the Lord with all their hearts, minds and beings, and above every other person or thing.

Then, and apart from the Mystics, He has given to mankind a Holy Book called the ‘Bible’; in it he has given mankind everything he needs to know, about how to find his way to Heaven in eternity. Not only has He given us the Bible, but also the Doctors and Saints of the Church, who by their lives and writings have given us pointers on perfection. Or maybe, we can call them shortcuts to Heaven. Also, we have for all to know where we stand with each other and with the Church, clearly defined rules in Canon Law.

All of the above is by way of introduction to the purpose of this writing.

Now, towards the end of the ‘end times’, even while we are living in the very time of the Apocalypse, I see that man is blind – not born blind, but choosing to be blind. Blind like those who are blind because they will not see, and deaf because they will not hear.

God sends a man into the world – a little man. In the Book of Revelation he is called the ‘White Stone’ (rev. 2-17). In a book called ‘The End Times’, by Maria Valtorta – a true Mystic of last century – he is called the ‘Hidden Manna’ of the Apocalypse, and I quote: "In the pebble a truth is revealed which is withheld from the unworthy. It is the Truth which opens the doors of Eternal Life for you, which gives you the "keys" to it and puts you on the way to reach the Gate of My Heavenly City." (Page 38).

Another well-known Mystic, Anne Catherine Emmerich, of the early 18th century, speaks about this same man at some length. So you see this "little man" comes well announced and with some great references. His name of course is – and we all know it – the ‘Little Pebble’; yes, that controversial upstart who has the cheek to tell the Catholic Church that it is in error.

Our Lady in Fatima in 1917, warned the world that the Church would go into a great apostasy. Well, we are in the middle of it; we have a great lack of faith in today’s Church. Most of the rules have been thrown out, or are not being preached by our clergy since the advent of the 2nd Vatican Council. Most of our young people live like married people without getting married. Abortion is commonplace; the pill and every other artificial contraceptive are used without even a warning from the pulpit. The people of the Church are lost, and mostly because the Shepherds themselves are lost.

Anyway I was saying about this little man - the ‘Little Pebble’ – and he comes to tell the people of God, including the hierarchy of the Church, of these errors. The people who read the Messages that the Prophet of God receives, and put these instructions into practice – they change. They change for the better. They go to Confession and start to take their Catholic Faith seriously; they become devout and prayerful. The Holy Rosary becomes a very natural part of their life – not just a decade, or five decades – no, the full fifteen decades becomes the norm for them. Most of the people start to go to daily Mass and spend an hour or more in Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament as a matter of daily routine.

The Messages through the ‘Little Pebble’, also advise that the way to receive Our Blessed Lord in Holy Communion, is on the tongue and kneeling. Well, what to you know? That way of receiving Holy Communion is just the very way that the Church teaches us to receive. Officially that is, but it is not what happens in practice. Most Priests promote receiving Communion on the hand and frown at any other way. According to the Teachings of the Church, that for anyone to touch the "Sacred Species", without consecrated hands, commits the very serious and grave sin of sacrilege. This is of course a part of the great apostasy that Our Lady of Fatima came to warn us about. It is here, right here under our noses, and most people are too blind to see it. Most people in the Holy Catholic Church are living in mortal sin – a sacrilege – and they don’t know or don’t care.

Where are the Shepherds of the Church? Why are they not teaching the faithful right from wrong?

It is interesting to look at the parallel of this event in the Scriptures. Our Blessed Lord was telling the crowd that they must eat "His Flesh and drink His Blood’ or they could have no life in them. Their response was that that was a "hard saying", and most of them at that point walked with Him no more. They lost belief in "Him" as the Son of God, and left Him. Most people today forget or ignore the fact that "Holy Communion" is the very Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus, Who is God – and they treat Communion like common bread. What a sacrilege! Like the crowd that followed Jesus in Palestine, today’s people have lost the truth of the fact the Communion is Jesus and they follow Him or His Teaching no more.

Again I ask, where are the Shepherds, the Priests, and the Bishops?

I am afraid to say that man has not, and will not, learn from history – and especially the hierarchy. The hierarchy of today is doing just what the Sanhedrin are doing. They are judging! We all know and say "judge not, lest thou be judged!" But each individual Priest seems to have an edge; they seem to know better than the Scriptures or Jesus as God.

They know better than God! These Priests of today think they can make up their own rules why they are modern and cleverer than past generations. They don’t need God to tell them how to behave.

Jesus taught each of us how to discern good from bad. He said: "By their fruits you will know them". This simple rule seems to be too simple. There must be more to it than that. The ‘Little Pebble’ – he is a "nobody". He has no credentials – why he is not even a Priest, and he says that he will be the last Pope. What a laugh! Isn’t it amazing they said the same thing about Jesus. Why he is the son of a carpenter from Nazareth. Nothing good can come from Nazareth, surely.

This little man without credentials has formed an organization called the Order of Saint Charbel – a worldwide organization with hundreds of thousands of followers in every country of the world. A new Religious Foundation as called for in "Vita Consecrata" in an encyclical by our Holy Father the Pope. This little man has had several audiences with the Holy Father, and the Holy Father knew who he was without being announced. Well isn’t that amazing? The Hand of God is truly amazing: here is this little man, persecuted on a daily basis, betrayed by hundreds of people. He gets no help from the Bishops who are charged by Canon Law to help. These Bishops in fact oppose every appeal of help, and will not even investigate – as charged by Canon Law – his claims. Yet he establishes a worldwide Religious Order.

Is it possible that a man without supernatural help can do such a thing? The people who are in this Order are deeply religious and holy people – they, too, in their turn are persecuted on a daily basis. Their own families and friends betray them, too, but they carry these crosses without complaint. As a matter of fact they pray for those who persecute them. They carry no grudges, but silently offer their prayers and sacrifices on behalf of a world and a Church that has lost its way.

From the Messages of Heaven, and not only from the ‘Little Pebble’ alone, but from many Mystics of the Church, we are told that this ‘Little Pebble’ has many connections with the Old Testament. For one, he is called ‘Little Abraham’. Like Abraham of old he, too, is asked to give up the things he loved most – that being his family. God really does test those whom He Loves to the nth degree. God made many promises to Abraham – one of them being that he would be the Father of all nations, and here comes the test. When the son of his old age, Isaac, is about old enough to marry. God asks Abraham to kill him. But what about the promise? What about children and grandchildren?

For God’s own purposes He wanted a big test to prove that Abraham would be obedient at any cost, even if it seemed to contradict the purpose of the promise. So, too, the ‘Little Pebble’, a married man, was asked to give up his wife and marry another with the promise of becoming the last Pope – Peter II. It just so happens that Abraham also had two wives and, with God’s approval, he had children with both.

I see in the ‘Little Pebble’ a great parallel with Moses, also. Moses as asked to lead his people to the Promised Land, but many mysterious things happened before that event. He was put in a basket to save him from being killed by Pharaoh, and yet it is the daughter of Pharaoh who fishes him out of the river and looks after him, until he is forced into exile in the desert, for many years. The ‘Little Pebble’ has been in a kind of exile for so long. He works for the good of the Church on a daily basis, and yet he is unwanted, wronged, persecuted, hated, falsely accused, betrayed by all and sundry – led in these things mostly by the hierarchy of the Church. Yet in his exile he is cheerful and upright. He is forgiving till the cows come home. He is helpful and generous of his time and resources to all the hundreds of people who call on him on a daily basis. I see that it is Our blessed Mother Herself who has pulled him out of the river of life – and it is She who protects him from the evil that surrounds him. She has bound Herself to him in the form of a Mystical Marriage. It is the ‘Little Pebble’ who has the promise to lead the people of God to the New Holy Era.

Just as with Moses, very few people seriously wanted to go to the Promised Land. In fact, it was only a handful that made it. Most people fell into idolatry, as is the case in the world today. Most people have false gods: money, possessions, sport, and sex – you name it, and it is all above and before God for most people. So how many people want to go to the New Era, or to Heaven? You can have no other gods before Me, is the Commandment, and how many live up to it?

I also see a lot of ‘Little David’ of the Old Testament in the ‘Little Pebble’. You know, the one who struck the giant in the middle of the forehead with a small stone. I see the ‘Little Pebble’ standing up to the whole of the colossus of the Church. Yet single-handedly David toppled the giant. I am not saying that the Church is going to be destroyed, for it cannot be. Our Lord promised He would be with it until the end. But it can topple, for remember our own Blessed Lord was Crucified and died on the Cross – so must His Mystical Body die and be glorified in its resurrection. The little ‘stone’, or ‘pebble’, that David catapulted, I see as being the sin of sacrilege committed, daily, in our Churches; it is aimed directly at the centre of the Church at the colossus, or the hierarchy, and the thought of it being a sacrilege is being ridiculed – just as was the little stone that David felled the giant with, was ridiculed.

Also, there are comparisons to be made with Saint John the Baptist. How long did he live in the desert? And then, when he came as a Precursor to Christ, what was the Message? One word only: "Repent". What is the basis of the Messages of the ‘Little Pebble’ as given by the Mother of God? It is repent, just as it is the basis of the Gospel. Would not the world love to take the head of the ‘Little Pebble’ and present it on a silver platter? Would not the world love that cry of "repent" to disappear? It continually causes one to think of eternity, but all that most men want to think about is the world.

All the muck and rubbish that the Church and the world have thrown, and continue to throw, at the ‘Little Pebble’, and at the Order of Saint Charbel, cannot stop it from persevering or growing, for it is God’s Work! If God is for us, who can be against us? If the Church is so sure that the ‘Little Pebble’ is up the creek, then why for goodness sake does it not have a proper Investigation as it is charged to do in Canon Law? What has it to fear? Why does it just have pretend Investigations? Why cannot everything be open and above board, with proper hearings, and cross-examinations and witnesses. Why are the documented miracles not investigated? Why are there no specifics in a sham Decree? The Church, if it were fair dinkum, would willingly do all these things; only it knows that it can bring no charges that can stick. For if the individuals were honest with themselves, they would read the Messages, stop attacking the messenger, whom they may not judge, and they would see and have to admit there is only "one Truth" and that Truth is hidden in the Messages as it is hidden in the Bible. One has to be open to hear and believe. One has to be without judgement, and without bias against the individuals concerned.

I have left one comparison until last, and for a purpose. It is the comparison of the ‘Little Pebble’ with Christ Jesus Himself. As Christ was unknown by worldly people, or the high and mighty, the proud, the unjust – so the ‘Little Pebble’ has no true followers amongst sinners. It is the little people, like the shepherds of old and the common, but prayerful and faithful people, who are seeking the truth who are his followers. These people have witnessed the miracles, have had their conversion experiences at Nowra, or because they have taken the Messages seriously and have taken them to heart. These people know, because of the peace that dwells in their hearts, and they know that peace can only come from God.

They know, too, that the persecution one receives on a daily basis has to be from God; why else the vehemence? If it were from the devil, no one would care! The comparisons go on and on. They are the virtues lived well on a daily basis that attest to the integrity of the ‘Little Pebble’. Even with a thousand things to do on a daily basis, he is always calm. He always has time for serious conversations. Always time to take a phone call from someone in need of advice. Nothing fazes the ‘Little Pebble’, not Cardinals, or Bishops or Heads of State. He is pleasant to all,. A hundred news people may be pressuring him, yet he is courteous, and he answers their questions, directly, and to the point without hiding things or with a secret agenda. He does not contradict himself, nor does he lift himself up to think that he is better than the next man. He is humility personified. He does not hide himself away, but is open to all.

As Christ had His Sacred Wounds of the Scourging, Crowning and Crucifixion, so does the ‘Little Pebble’ carry them mystically, and sometimes visibly. As Christ performed miracles to heal the sick, so have I witnessed a man being instantly cured by the simple laying of hands, and praying. One moment the man looked "green:", and he looked as if he was ready for the grave, the next he was well. Just as the "Miracle of the Sun" proved to thousands the supernatural message of Fatima, so have thousands witnessed this same miracle on the Holy Grounds at Nowra.

Just as Christ claimed nothing for Himself, but everything He said and did was for the Father; the ‘Little Pebble’ claims nothing for himself either. He receives his instructions from Jesus and Mary, and passes them on, on Their behalf, and gives Them the credit. Just as Jesus appeared as a simple Man, even though He was God, He could speak to everyone, and to their hearts – to saints and sinners alike. So does the ‘Little Pebble’ have the gift of making one comfortable in his presence. He has the ability to communicate on any level, and that level depends on the person he is with. I have heard him speak many times, and to hundreds of people at a time, and on the deepest theological topics, without any notes, or study – and yet he was able to communicate the essence of what he said to young and old alike, and at the same time. He is truly gifted. The ‘Little Pebble’ is truly Christ-like to everyone whose life he touches, if only they would give him a chance. Not even Jesus crossed the boundaries of people’s free will, nor does the ‘Little Pebble’. He may suggest options or alternatives, or direction, but he never interferes with people’s free will.

The ‘Little Pebble’ is controversial, sure – but was not Christ controversial? Where were Jesus’ greatest enemies? They were in the temple of old. It was they who stirred up the people against Him. Just as Christ was not given a fair trial, neither is the ‘Little Pebble’. Is it not interesting that one of Our Lord’s last prayers was that "they all may be one". Guess what, Saint Charbel was a Mystic of the Eastern Church, and the purpose of his Order is to unite the Church of the East with the West. Now isn’t that interesting? And isn’t it also interesting that the Bible often references the Cedars of Lebanon. Is that just a reference to a bunch of trees with a nice smell, or is there more to it? Is it maybe that they are represented by people with the odour of sanctity because they belonged to the most persecuted Order of Saint Charbel, and a Saint who happened to come from Lebanon?

Are there not too many coincidences here – or am I just making this up? Am I seeing more than there really is? Then why the reference to the "white stone" in the Apocalypse, or in Maria Valtorta’s writings, or in Anne Catherine Emmerich, and dozens of other Mystics and Saints throughout history. Why is it that hundreds of Mystics - including many with the stigmata – around the world today all back up what the ‘Little Pebble’ says in his Messages?

Let me get back to the hierarchy of the Church. Under their leadership, and over the last forty years or so, millions of people worldwide have a bankrupted faith. Even if parents of children hold on to the true practices of the faith, by the time they have gone through what is called the Catholic School system, most of these children have been taught away from the faith in both the Schools and the empty platitudes of Sunday sermons. It is no wonder that more than 90% of our younger generation no longer practice the faith. It seems to me that it is not even their own fault, for they simply do not know what being a Catholic means, or how it should be practiced.

God does have a Plan, however – it is a great Plan. If we look at the Scriptures we can see just what it is, for there is nothing new under the sun. Just as the Apostles fell asleep in the Garden of Gethsemane, denied, or ran away when Our Lord was taken, so are our Priests asleep, and it is the calm before the storm. They have built their faith on sand, instead of the ‘Rock’ of Christ and the fullness of His Teachings. They will be scattered with fear of their life, as were the Apostles. The Church will be persecuted; many will be asked to give their lives. The Church will be cleansed and will be glorified in its resurrection.

Then when the Holy Spirit comes again to enlighten the conscience of all of mankind; when their sins will be before them as at the moment of death, then they will see what they have done to their God, to His Church – and what they have allowed to happen to the people of God. The Holy Spirit will strengthen them, just as He did at "His First Coming" in the upper room. Then they will go out strengthened and convicted of the truths of our Holy Faith, and preach it to its fullest extent, and with the power to all of mankind. They will need to be strengthened and convicted, just as the Apostles of old, for many will be asked to give - and will be happy to give - their very lives for their faith and for their God, for then will be the full blown and physical reign of the Antichrist.

The future looks bleak for them, however, for how many of the old Jewish hierarchy converted? How many became Catholics? And Christ proved to them that He was God Incarnate by His Death and Resurrection. Their time of truth and conversion is now! They cannot afford to wait for the future, or the enlightenment. They must open their hearts now to see that they have a "true Prophet of God" in their midst. They must listen to him now, as the Jews had to listen to Christ in their midst before His Death. They should have recognized the signs, the prophecies, the miracles, and the healings that were happening right under their very noses, instead of accusing, judging and bearing false witness against their neighbour.
