Dear Sue,
Greetings! I am very disappointed in today's article - 13th May Edition - in the New Idea, and my wife, Bettina, shares the same disappointment. Journalism has certainly reached an all-time low.
Your well-respected magazine has lost much dignity in my estimation and those who will read it, I am sure. You would be well-advised to read my recent Press Release and to know that once I have collected sufficient monies, your magazine will have a multi-million dollar law suit. Yours is the first magazine since 1984 that I have allowed to enter my private life.
Your article is slanderous, misleading and a misrepresentation of the facts and truth. The facts that you presented were far from the truth where my affiliations, on many levels with the Roman Catholic Church, were not presented. Yet all matters pertaining to the false reporting of other Media extras, were included.
I was told it was to be an in-depth article of the family, but it turned out to be no different from all the previous Media trash. Believe me, Sue, all of this has a long and far-reaching effect, and many souls will have much to answer for before God.
While you were with us did you really notice anything "bizarre", as reported? What is there "bizarre" about a fence around a property? Does not the Queen have a high fence around her palace? Do not high dignitaries have various walls around their homes and properties? What about Companies and factories? Why do all these Companies have security fences around them? As you know, our property has been violently violated, several times, by hoodlums and gangs - even by those carrying weapons.
Also, we have a large heavily-wooded area with cliffs close by - what would you do to protect your children in the same situation? We have some fifty children living on our property of 74 acres. To indicate our home is "bizarre" because it has shutters, is bizarre reporting indeed. How many millions of homes have protective shutters?
The reporting not having family portraits, is absolutely false. Did you see the main rooms of our home? No, you only saw the kitchen and entrance hall. Our main rooms are surrounded with family portraits. As for books, we have about 800 books in our home, and I only showed you part of our study. Why do you mislead the public? To call our family life "bizarre" is an insult. Our family life is far from "bizarre"! Do not put our lifestyle and beliefs in the same category.
I told you straight, Sue, that the world is not going to end this month. I have never said it would in any of my Press Releases, yet the Media continue to mislead the public and falsify all that I say.
We do not live in a secretive world as do other well-known figures. I made this very clear to you, and I did to many other Reporters. I am known all over the Earth in about 120 countries; I am known by His Holiness, Pope John Paul II, as by hundreds of Church Leaders and thousands of Priests, and hundreds of thousands of people - so where is the secret world of the 'Pebble' and his family?
As for the 'Cult' image portrayed by yourselves: this is unfounded. As repeatedly stated, we are not a 'cult' or a 'sect'; the Roman Catholic Church has never called us either, only the Media. A 'cult' or a 'sect' leader, as portrayed by yourselves, would not have a public following in every part of the world - they have always been isolated cases.
As for people worshipping me: what a degrading reference and demeaning statement for the many well-known and respected members of our Community who are known and respected in the Shoalhaven District of some sixty-thousand people.
We are not stocking-piling weapons for any apocalyptic event, as I stated before. The Police have publicly denied what you have claimed they said, and we have this also in writing. Sue, you have distorted the picture and re-constructed sentences that were actually said, and then placed them in a different context.
Sue, you are like most people; they have no idea of what was portrayed as a Mystical Marriage, for your understanding is not Catholic, and only the Church Investigation can clarify and define it.
It is not true that I left my ex-wife, Anne, to marry Bettina because she was pregnant - this can be found in all my writings.
How you have portrayed me living in luxury while the rest living in caravans, is far from the truth, and you know this to be true. My brick home, which was purchased with my own money - which, by the way is one of the cheapest kit homes available.

Secondly, there are four other large brick homes in our Community for which I paid for other families to live in, therefore, these particular families did not need to sell their homes to come here. |

Thirdly, as I told you, and many others, most of the other homes which are new three and two-bedroom modular homes - except for four that I purchased for those families to live in at no cost to them because they came with nothing. |

Fourthly, only four families sold their homes, freely, to come and erect their modular homes on our property, and they did not hand their money to me. These members can freely move their homes at any time and re-locate them to another caravan park whenever they choose. |

Fifthly, most of the caravans you depicted in your paper are unoccupied, as they are used for the visitors to whom they belong. |
To say that members have not questioned my claims is also false, for that would make them simply zombies - members with no brains - yet many of our members are prominent members of the local Shire: teachers, carpenters, solicitors, Priests, Sisters, nurses and shop-keepers.
If you had taken more time to look at the sign at the front gate you would have noticed it referred to a "Sacred Ground" and "dress code". A dress code for any Sacred Shrine is obvious, is it not? - e.g. the Tibetan Monks, Hindu Shrines, Muslim Mosques - or Catholic Churches in years gone by! What about tennis clubs - do the players wear high heel shoes? What about Clubs - do you wear thongs?
At no time have I said that men should have more than one wife! Don't you think that one wife is enough? I said that in the New Golden Age, where there will be no sin, men would have more than one wife. This is not so "bizarre" since some six-thousand years of world history had this lifestyle. But our Modern Age says it is "bizarre" - yet to have sexual relationships with many women in one's life time, is normal and socially acceptable.
It is not true that hundreds of people sold their homes to follow me! I have said many souls have been generous in supporting my work.
The School was not erected in our Community and Order because of the persecution against us, but it is part of our Catholic up-bringing to teach our children the faith, and all youth - about 30 or so - go to the local High School. It is truly sad that the Media continue to distort the truth and the facts. God is our Judge and Arbitrator, and one day the real truth will be known.
Finally, so that the facts and records stand clearly: We do live at the time of the Apocalypse, believed by all Christians - Catholic and Protestant faiths: the Mormons, Muslims, Hindus and every faith on Earth - yet those who profess no faith believe in nothing but themselves. I am a Roman Catholic man, and have been since my birth. I profess the faith and practice it. I am a Visionary and Seer, and a modern-day Prophet. I am the Leader and Founder of a New Form of Consecrated Life - a Religious Order known as the Order of Saint Charbel Order - with about five-hundred-thousand members.
I am not a 'sect' Leader or 'cult' Leader! The definition does not fit what I portray, which is clearly known and seen in what I do. I am a legally married man with nine children from two marriages. I have never been in a bigamy situation, for it is against the law.
All my claims have been open and public for all to read and see. All has been placed before the Catholic Church Authorities, who are my only competent judges. I am waiting for their decision and direction.
Once the Church has made its full decision on me then I will, without hesitation, accept the Church's decree according to the laws that govern its statutes, in all fairness and truth before God and His Church, and the world in general. My testimony given remains the truth, and nothing but the truth, so help me God.
I hope, Sue, that the next time you interview another person, you will seek clearly in your conscience, the truth.
I hope the New Idea will print my long letter, but I doubt it very much. My letter will go to the whole world Media, and when the time is right it will go before a Court Hearing as a deposit to my cause. For the defamation and calumny towards myself and others - they will be dealt with at an appropriate time.
The world will not end this month, nor for many thousands of years to come, for why would I prepare for the end by stock-piling food? Would I be Pope of the future if there is no future? No, but we could have some very sad events for the world over the next six to twelve months if the Comet, Kohoutek does hit Mars. We hope and pray that nothing will occur for man's sake.
