PUBLIC STATEMENT July 26, 2005 from Fr. Simon
Vautour In reference to the Little Pebble and the St. Charbel Order. I am a practicing member of the Roman Catholic Church and a member of the St. Charbel Order in Canada -- and have been for about twenty (20) years from its humble beginnings to date. The St. Charbel Order is a new form of consecrated life in the Catholic Church and is not a sect or cult as some people claim. People, whom I may add, have never spent a day in a Community environment. Community life is simply family life extended to a larger family where people live, work, pray and relax in an environment where good, wholesome family values can be practiced and instilled in all aspects of life. Every child raised in good Christian moral values is, we hope, one more person in the world who will strive for peace, love and harmony in a world filled with hatred, coldness and terror. I need not expound. Community life fosters a love for God and the Church -- and fosters many vocations to the Priesthood and Religious Life. The Order has a Rule and Constitutions and a governing authority which are needed to make life run as smoothly as possible. All members are free to come and go. To work, study, raise a family, pursue their vocations and careers. If this were not true -- believe me, I would not be here. The Moderator of the St. Charbel Order is William Kamm, the "Little Pebble". I have known him for twenty-one (21) years and I have believed very strongly in his Mission and I believe very strongly in his innocence of all charges levelled against him. It is very difficult for Secular Society to grasp the concept of what is happening here. All they see and hear is the News Media distorting facts and truths. Honing in on specific words are phrases -- then sensationalizing and trying to outdo each other. All at the expense of truth and the downfall of a good man's reputation. The Ethics Code of Journalism speaks strongly on this in their mandate -- but, today -- who pays attention? Out of every evil thing comes good. Even though God is not happy with what is happening to William -- He permits it to happen. Everyone who wishes to follow Jesus must accept the fact that he will meet the Cross throughout his life. The charism of the St. Charbel Order is atonement! To atone for the sins and crimes of others is unimaginable for those of little or no Faith. But, for the active and true Christian soul -- it is a viable way of expressing the love and charity demanded by the Gospels. Sacred Scripture does not lie. Matthew 22:36-40: "You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind sand strength. Secondly, you must love your neighbour as yourself. On these two Commandments depend the Law and the Prophets.
