Ordinations to the Priesthood

January 3, 2004

Community of Gethsemane
Cambewarra, NSW Australia

Ordinations conferred by

Bishop Malcolm L. Broussard, Jr.

The Married Priesthood

One of the significant elements of the Rule and Constitutions of the Order of Saint Charbel is its provision for the married clergy. While this already exists in the Eastern Catholic Churches -- it is not yet fully accounted for in the Latin Rite. The Order of Saint Charbel upholds the traditional teaching of the Latin Rite -- that the Ordained Priest cannot marry validly. However, the man who is already married -- may be ordained to the Priesthood in the Order of Saint Charbel.

The following (4) Priests -- and (1) Deacon -- of our Community were validly married in the Catholic Church before their Ordination to the Diaconate and Priesthood:

Newly Ordained: (4) Priests and (1) Deacon
