The
Married Priesthood
One of the
significant elements of the Rule and Constitutions of the Order of Saint Charbel
is its provision for the married clergy. While this already exists in the
Eastern Catholic Churches -- it is not yet fully accounted for in the Latin
Rite. The Order of Saint Charbel upholds the traditional teaching of the Latin
Rite -- that the Ordained Priest cannot marry validly. However, the man who is
already married -- may be ordained to the Priesthood in the Order of Saint
Charbel.
The following
(4) Priests -- and (1) Deacon -- of our Community were validly married in the
Catholic Church before their Ordination to the Diaconate and Priesthood:

Fr. James Duffy
(Gethsemane Community)
Fr. James is 74 years
old and has been a follower of the Mission given to the Little Pebble since
1979. He is happily married to his lovely wife Frances for 50 years. Before
his retirement he worked as a Systems Analyst for major companies. He was
born in Sydney and has been a devout Catholic all his life. He has travelled
extensively overseas with the Little Pebble in the work of the Mother of
God. Fr. James is known worldwide through his close collaboration with the
Little Pebble. |

Fr. John Marie
(Gethsemane Community)
Fr. John Marie is the
religious name he has adopted -- he is known to everyone as Peter Quail. Fr.
John Marie is 56 years old and first joined the Mission in 1991 with his
mother (Qwen Quail - deceased). He is happily married to his lovely wife
Theresa for 4 years. He was born in Sydney and was raised a Catholic by
devout parents. He teaches in our Saint Joseph's School and has developed an
outstanding youth program -- the Altar Boys of Saint Aloysius Gonzaga.

Fr. Edward Stokes
(Sacred Heart Community)
Fr.
Edward Stokes is 70 years old. He and his lovely wife -- Patricia
("Bridget") have been
actively involved in the Mission of the Little Pebble since 1986. He has
worked many years as an Engineer with the Victoria State Electricity
Commission. In 1987, he and his wife established the Community of the Sacred
Heart on their 40 acre property in Tyaak, Victoria. He has been the
Community Superior of this Community since 1988. He has been the major
Promoter for Oceania -- and through a long standing mailing list -- has
disseminated the Messages to countless people of this southern hemisphere. |

Fr. Guido Colla
(Precious Blood Community)
Fr.
Guido Colla is 60 years old. Originally from Holland, he and his lovely wife
Maria have been devout Catholics all their life. They have been actively
involved in the Pro-Life Movement for many years and as a presenting team
for Marriage Encounter for 10 years. They have personally met Pope John Paul
II in Rome and the Pope personally embraced their son also named John Paul
after his Holiness. Guido and Maria and his brother Vincent manage one of
the largest chicken farms in Australia on 1,500 acres of beautiful land near
Meredith, Victoria. They also manage a very successful Catholic Religious
Goods Store. In 1995 he and his wife established the Community of the Most
Precious Blood on their property. |

Rev. Mr. Vito Napoletano
(Deacon)
(Gethsemane
Community)
Rev. Mr. Vito Napoletano
is 57 years old. Born in Italy he immigrated to Australia in 1969. He is a
devout Catholic. He and his lovely wife Cathy have been married for 30
years. They first joined the Mission given to the Little Pebble in 1984 and
moved onto the property of Gethsemane in 1989. He is a man of many talents
-- especially in the building trade. He has been the Works supervisor for
the Community for many years and works closely with the Little Pebble on various
projects. |

On
December 29, 2003 -- (14) men of the Order of Saint Charbel received
Tonsure and thus began their steps towards the Minor and Major Orders. From
these fourteen men, (4) were Ordained to the Priesthood; and (1) being Ordained
as a Deacon.
Each day, for a full week these
men progressed through the reception of the Minor Orders -- Porter, Lector,
Exorcist, and Acolyte.
December
29, 2003 -- (14) men received Tonsure
December
30, 2003 -- (14) men received the Minor Orders of Porter and Lector
December
31, 2003 -- (14) men received the Minor Orders of Exorcist and Acolyte
January 1,
2004 -- (13) of these men received the Subdiaconate.
January 2,
2004 -- (5) of the thirteen Subdeacons were ordained to the Diaconate.
January 3,
2004 -- (4) of the five Deacons were ordained to the Priesthood.
January 4,
2004 -- The first Masses were offered in our Chapel.
The Community was fully involved
in the preparations for these eventful days. The Order of Saint Charbel has
taken a major step forward and will begin a new phase of growth.
