To the "detractors", the majority of who are fellow Catholics - as well as the Media - in a most scurrilous way, defaming souls, hiding behind their shields of anonymous donors and powerful corporations.

Through the public media, you seek to further vilify James Duffy. He has no purpose or need to defend himself following his acquittal in the Nowra local court proceedings. You set yourselves up as "judges"! Not content with accepting in a dignified and orderly fashion the decision of the Court, you seek to retry him in a court constituted by a biased and maliciously motivated Media.

In your clamour for revenge and justice – as you would have it administered – Christ’s edict: "Judge not, and you shall not be judged", and His invitation that could not be accepted: "If there is one among you without sin, let him cast the first stone", is either contemptuously ignored, or so far condemned to the depths of your memory that it cannot be resumed; or perhaps it is simply the case that you have never heard His Teaching in the first place.

James Duffy was found not guilty. That verdict is unassailable, and as bitter a pill it is for my "detractors" to swallow, the reality of its occurrence cannot be ignored. Despite this finding he is still the recipient of a smear and innuendo campaign, mounted with blind and mindless passion by a vindictive and vengeful Media. Those who purportedly uphold and respect the Legal System cannot in their anger and disbelief accept the decision that this Court has made. The article following Mr. Duffy’s acquittal has so misrepresented the findings of the Court, that the inference is available, unavoidably, that the Court was in error.

Unable to accept the bitter pill referred to above, these cowardly "detractors" have sought to portray the proceedings as something akin to a farce. Primarily because a journalist, with little or no understanding of the Legal System, has based articles upon the nonsensical proposition that the material, which was inadmissible, would otherwise have proved the case against Mr. Duffy.

Unlike "Trial by Media", the Legal System does not work in that fashion. On the admissible evidence available to the Nowra local Court, the Prosecution could not, and did not, prove its Case beyond a reasonable doubt. Would the Media reverse the onus of proof in this State; lessen the standard of proof; or appoint journalists as the final Judges of law and fact?

To the army of "detractors" and "critics", who scorn my Mission and my followers: I have a simple and direct message: "The wheel will turn". Likewise: "The journey is not complete until the traveller reaches his destination." In the fullness of time I will muster those resources legitimately available to me to see such redress and compensation as the Court determines appropriate.

I have not, do not, and will never – unlike those opposed to me – seek to utilise the grubby and deceitful tactics and resources that the Media in all its guises, has available to it.

My battle with those who confront me will be open, lawful and unaided by the powers that drive the Media and its related agencies in the pursuit of their real motives and hidden agendas.

In these pursuits I will be guided by God’s Will and Hand, and in this matter, as with the conduct of all my affairs, I remain His faithful and obedient servant.
