On the western shore of Jervis Bay. Named by Governor George Gipps after William HUSKISSON (1770-1830), Colonial Secretary between 1827 and 1829. A Member of the British Parliament, Huskisson was killed at the opening of the Liverpool-Manchester railway on 15th September 1830. While talking to the Duke of Wellington, he was knocked down by the engine of the "Rocket".
